Newsletter 2/7/2020

Hi everyone,

another week full of learning comes to a close in 1G.

We will finish our 4th PYP unit next week. For the summative assessment, the students will make their own puppet show with shadow puppets and sound effects. We will finish up with measurement as well as telling time by the full and half hour. Our PYP unit 5 will focus on needs and wants, money as well as economic choices.

Here are some general updates and reminders:

(1) Uniform Update:
ICSAtlanta will be changing our uniform requirements, officially beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.  In order to provide an adequate phase-out period, we wanted to announce this change as soon as possible.
Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, khaki pants, shorts, and scooters will no longer be allowed as part of ICSAtlanta’s school uniform.  The only color option for pants, shorts, and jumpers  will be navy.  The only color options for scooters  will be navy and ICSAtlanta plaid.
Please note:  this does not begin next school year (2020-2021); it begins the following year (2021-2022).

(2)  The ICSAtlanta’s Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) celebration is NEXT Saturday!  This year’s celebration, the Year of the Mouse, will be on Saturday, February 8th, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the lower campus.
Please bring your family out to enjoy delicious Asian food, crafts, souvenirs, face-painting, dancing, games, a fashion show, and much more!

Please see attached flyer for the performance times and event map.
PLEASE RSVP so that we can ensure we have ENOUGH FOOD.

(3) Coins for Australia: Join us as ICSAtlanta collects money to benefit those affected by the wildfires in Australia!

Each class will collect coins next week (Feb 3-7).  On Friday, we will weigh the collection bins from each class.  The class with the heaviest bin wins!   All proceeds go to benefit WIRES (NSW Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service).
Want to bring dollars instead?  That works! We will have a dollar weight conversion.

(4) February is Black History Month!   Students in both the lower and upper campuses will be participating in during-school events to celebrate Black History Month.  In addition, in each Friday of February, we will have themed, out-of-uniform dress days:
Next Friday, February 7th: dress in traditional African colors: red, green, black, and gold.
February 14th: dress in traditional African attire
February 28th: dress in HBCU (historically black college or university) collegiate wear

(5) Remember that the deadline to sign up for winter break camp (February 17th-21st) is NEXT Friday, February 7th at 6 PM. Please see our website or click  HERE for more information.
